Q.1: The shadow of a tower standing on level ground is found to be 40 m longer when the Sun’s altitude is 30° than when it is 60°. Find the height of the tower.​

tan60o=BDAB

3=xh

∴   x=3h                ------- ( 1 )

Now in △ABC,

tan30o=BCAB

⇒  31=x+40h

⇒  x+40=3h

∴  3h+40=3h          [  From equation ( 1 ) ]

⇒  h+403=3h

⇒  2h=403

∴  h=203m

∴  The height of a tower is 203m.
