This happens because pressure is applied on the band which makes it to change the shape and it gains its originalshape when released. So, its a solid. 2. The salt and sugar are originally the solid particles but, they are crystalline solids which have a regular and identical shape for each molecule.

Also, they are very minute in size what you must have seen in your daily use products, so as first they have regular shape and second they are minute in size, they arrange in a regular pattern and fill all the space of the container so that, they seems like they have taken the shape of the container.
