Gujjars, tribal from Rajasthan and other parts of India agitated for the inclusion of their tribe in SC (Schedule Caste) category. Gujjars in Rajasthan already recognized as OBC (other backward categories). In order to take advantages and concessions from the state and central government, Gujjars demanded of reservation in SC category.
Gujjars agitation to downgrade their category to enjoy 7.5% of the reservation was inspired by Meenas. Meenas is another nomadic community which prospered through SC quotas in Rajasthan.
