Q.1 what do you think mrs.luella bates intended to do with Roger
Answers
Answer:
Explanation:
In Langston Hughes's short story "Thank You, Ma'am," Roger is a poor adolescent boy who attempts to steal Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones's purse in hopes of gaining enough money to buy a pair of blue suede shoes. As Roger grabs Mrs. Jones's purse, he immediately stumbles to the ground and she instantly grabs him. Roger struggles to get away from Mrs. Jones but cannot break her grip, and she proceeds to drag him all the way to her home. When Roger initially enters Mrs. Jones's home, he thinks about running away but she instructs him to wash his face. After Roger turns the water faucet on, he asks Mrs. Jones if is she is going to take him to jail. He is aware that he has committed a crime and is worried that Mrs. Jones will punish him by taking him to jail. Ironically, Mrs. Jones does the opposite by making him a warm dinner, showing him compassion, giving him advice, and handing him ten dollars to buy a pair of blue suede shoes.
