1) An anion is an ion that has gained one or more electrons, acquiring a negative charge. A cation is an ion that has lost one or more electrons, gaining a positive charge. Metals are mostly anions and non metals are mostly cations with an exception of Hydrogen ( H+).

Example: Anion - Na+, Ba2+, Fe3+

Cation : SO4-, SO3(2-),Cl-
