Answer 1:The rebels declared Bahadur Shah Zafar as their leader because they wanted an Indian king to lead them. BAHADUR SHAH ZAFAR HAD NO SPECIAL POWERS WHEN BRITISH CAME TO RULE INDIA.SO WHEN THE SEPOYS WENT TO HIM HE WAS ALSO MOTIVATED AND FELT HAPPY THAT THE SEPOYS ARE MAKING HIM AS THE LEADER AND GIVING HIM RESPECT.
