More than thirty million children visit online sites annually, making it the largest group dependent on the internet. The use of the internet has become a central part of homes, schools, libraries, and schools. The heavy overdependence on the internet has both advantages and disadvantages in a person’s life.
Advantages of Internet Influence
Children can use the internet to boost their academics in a positive way. They are able to access additional information on the different subjects that they are taught in schools. Reading the wide documents on the internet enables the children to improve their skills. Their creativity is also enhanced by the games and learning materials that they are exposed to online.
The internet has also influenced the way children communicate due to the introduction of emails, social media and chatting platforms as a way of communication. It has helped the children to improve their communication skills and fostered friendship with others. This plays a great role in the job market when they are expressing themselves.
Disadvantages of Internet Usage
The internet, on the other hand, has affected children's communication negatively. Over-dependence on the internet has made the children abandon the traditional face to face interactions. Children using the internet are usually sitting for long hours. This affects their health by increasing obesity and making their eyesight to be poor.
