2.The magnification, m, is defined as the ratio of the image height to the object height, which is closely related to the ratio of the image distance to the object distance: A magnification of 1 (plus or minus) means that the image is the same size as the object.

3.Yes, we can distinguish between concave and convex mirrors without touching them. As we know that in a concave mirror the size of the image formed is enlarged w.r.t. the real image. And in the convex mirror the size of the image formed is diminished w.r.t. the real image.

The convex mirror will form a virtual, erect image of the pencil that is smaller in size than the actual pencil. The mirror will always form a virtual image regardless of the distance of the pencil from the mirror
