Very easy one
Given
a(2,-2)
b(-1,x)
To find
x
Basic Approach:
use distance formula and find x
Solution:
Let,
x = 2 , y = -2
x1 = -1 , y1 = x
According to the Question
ab = 5 units
now, on squaring both sides,we get:--
ab² = 5² units
=> ab² = 25 units
Now, By using distance formula,we get:-
(x-x1)² + (y1 - y)² = 25
=>[2 -(-1)]² + [x -(-2)]² = 25
=>(2+3)² + (x+2)² = 25
=>25 + x² + 4x + 4 = 25
=>x² + 4x + 29-25 = 0
=>x² + 4x + 4
now , by simply using middle term splitting method we can get the value of x. | 4 = 2×2 and 2+2 = 4
=> x² + 2x +2x + 4 = 0
=> x(x+2) + 2(x+2) = 0
=> (x+2)(x+2) = 0
therefore , x = -2
then , the given point will be B(-1,-2)
