SOLUTION

GIVEN

Charity is the act of giving help tp those in meed it. It is a humatarian act. So in this order, Radha distributed chocolates in an orphanage, on her birthday, she gave 5 chocolates to each child and 20 chocolates to adults

Taking number of children as x and total chocolates distributed are y.

i) Write a linear equation, according to given question.

a) y=20x+5

b) x=20y+5

c) y=5x+20

d) y=20x+10

ii) If she distributed 145 chocolates, then how many children are there in the orphanage

a) 20

b) 25

c) 30

d) 35

iii) If she distributed 205 chocolates, then how many children are there in the orphanage?

a) 36

b) 37

c) 39

d) 41

iv) If there are 20 children, then find the required number of chocolates.

a) 70

b) 90

c) 120

d) 75

EVALUATION

Here it is given that Charity is the act of giving help tp those in meed it. It is a humatarian act. So in this order, Radha distributed chocolates in an orphanage, on her birthday, she gave 5 chocolates to each child and 20 chocolates to adults

(i) Now number of children as x and total chocolates distributed are y.

So the required linear equation is y = 5x + 20

Hence the linear equation, according to given question.

c) y = 5x + 20

(ii) Now she distributed 145 chocolates

So y = 145

y = 5x + 20 gives

145 = 5x + 20

 \implies \sf{5x = 125}

 \implies \sf{x = 25}

If she distributed 145 chocolates, then the number of children in the orphanage

b) 25

(iii) Now she distributed 205 chocolates

So y = 205

y = 5x + 20 gives

205 = 5x + 20

 \implies \sf{5x = 185}

 \implies \sf{x = 37}

If she distributed 205 chocolates, then the number of children in the orphanage

b) 37

(iv) Now If there are 20 children

Then x = 20

 \implies \sf{y =(5 \times 20) + 20 }

 \implies \sf{y =100 + 20 }

 \implies \sf{y =120 }

If there are 20 children, then the required number of chocolates.

c) 120
