Q.12 The numerator of a fraction is 2 less than the denominator. If 3 is added to both the numerator and the denominator, the fraction becomes 3/4. Find the fraction.

\huge\mathrm{Answer}

Let the numerator be :- x

Then, the denominator will be - x + 2

x + 3 \div x + 2 + 3 = 3 \div 4 \\  = >  x + 3 \div x + 5 = 3 \div 4 \\  =  > 4(x + 3) = 3(x + 5) \\  =  > 4x + 12 = 3x + 15  \\  =  > 4x - 3x = 15 - 12 \\  =  > x = 3

Therefore,

Numerator = 3

Denominator = 3+2 = 5

Ans) The fraction is 3/5

Correct⭐Question

Q.12 The numerator of a fraction is 2 less than the denominator. If 3 is added to both the numerator and the denominator, the fraction becomes 3/4. Find the fraction.

\huge\mathrm{Answer}Answer

Let the numerator be :- x

Then, the denominator will be - x + 2

\begin{gathered}x + 3 \div x + 2 + 3 = 3 \div 4 \\ = > x + 3 \div x + 5 = 3 \div 4 \\ = > 4(x + 3) = 3(x + 5) \\ = > 4x + 12 = 3x + 15 \\ = > 4x - 3x = 15 - 12 \\ = > x = 3\end{gathered}

x+3÷x+2+3=3÷4

=>x+3÷x+5=3÷4

=>4(x+3)=3(x+5)

=>4x+12=3x+15

=>4x−3x=15−12

=>x=3

Therefore,

Numerator = 3

Denominator = 3+2 = 5

Ans) The fraction is 3/5
