it is not possible as on factorising x^2-8x+15

we get......(x-3)×(x-5).....

Step-by-step explanation:

If the H.C.F is (x-3), then there exist some other factor x-a that will give us x2-kx-1.

Therefore (x-3)(x-a)=x2-kx-1, x2-3x-ax+3a=x2-kx-1, x2-(a+3)x+3a=x2-kx-1.

This means a+3=k, and 3a=-1, so a=-1/3, then k=8/3.

This is the result I came to.
