Answer :-

Given :-

In a nuclear fission, 0.1 % of mass is converted into energy.

To find :-

Energy released by the fission of 1 Kg mass will be?

Solution :-

0.1 % of 1 Kg :-

=> 0.1/100 × 1

=> 0.001 × 1

∴ 0.001 Kg

Using e = mc² :-

Where :-

  • e = energy
  • m = mass
  • c = speed of light

=> e = 0.001 × (3 × 10⁸)²

=> e = 9,00,00,00,00,00,000 J

=> e = 9 × 10¹³ J

∴ The energy released by the fission is 9 × 10¹³ J.
