Answer:

A relative clause is a kind of dependent clause, that has a subject and verb, but cannot stand alone as a sentence. It is sometimes called an “adjective clause” since  it functions like an adjective—it gives more information about a noun.

A relative clause always begins with a relative pronoun that substitutes for a noun phrase, a noun, or a pronoun when sentences are joined or combined.

We use relative clauses to join two English sentences, or to give more information about something

Relative clauses are clauses starting with the relative pronouns who*, that, which, whose, where, when. They are most often used to define or identify the noun that precedes them

Relative pronoun whom and which is used as the object of the relative clause, for example, My English professor is a person whom I l respect a lot

Relative pronoun whose can be used in place of the possessive pronoun. It should be followed by a noun, for example, There is a boy in grade 7 whose brother is a professional cricket player

Relative pronouns where and when can be used with time and place nouns, for example, GEC is a college where children from more than 30 nations are studying

We  leave out the pronoun if it is the object of the relative clause, for example, This is the house that Jane built. (that is the object of built)

The relative pronoun is the subject/object of the relative clause, so we do not repeat the subject/object, for example, This is the house that Jack built it (that is the object of built, so we don't need it)
