we know that if -6 gies on opposite side of = sign , it will become +6 {THIS IS A RULE}

So Now,

x =  - 1 + 6

see there is a sign of plus between -1 and 6 so we can also write

x = 6 +  ( - 1)

and as we know that + and - are if together, forms -(minus) ultimately {THIS IS ALSO A RULE}

So answer is

x = 6 - 1

x = 5

So x = 5
