Given info : A boy starts from a point A, travels to a point B at a distance of 1.5 km and returns to A. If he takes one hour to do so.

To find : the average speed of the boy is ..

solution : average velocity of an object is the ratio of total displacement covered to the total time taken by the object.

so, average speed = total distance covered/total time taken

here, boy starts from point A travels to a point B at a distance of 1.5 km and returns to A in one hour.

so total distance covered by the boy = 1.5 km - 1.5 km = 0 km [ ∵ boy finally comes to initial position so, the displacement = zero ]

total time taken by the boy = 1 hr

now average speed = 0 km/1 hr = 0 km/h

therefore the average velocity of the boy is zero. so the correct option is (b) zero.

Answer:

0(zero)

Explanation:

t=1,d=1.5-1.5=0

V=d/t

V=0/1

V=0
