Step-by-step explanation:

3x+5y=16

3x=16-5y

x=(16-5y)/3 (1)

putting the value of x in equation 2

4x-y= 6

4(16-5y)/3-y=6

64-20y-3y= 18

-23y=18-64

y= -46/-23= 2

therefore x = (16-5×2)/3= (16-10)/3= 6/3= 2

x=2

y=2
