Correct Question !!

•Q.2 lt refractive index of glass is 1.65. What is the speed of light in glass? Given that speed

of light in air is 3 X 10⁸ m/s

Given:-

  • Refractive index of Glass ,ng = 1.65

  • Speed of light in air , c = 3 × 10⁸ m/s

To Find:-

  • Speed of light in glass ,v

Solution:-

Using Snell's Law

• ng = c/v

where,

ng is the refractive index

c is the speed of light in air

v is the speed of light in glass

Substitute the value we get

→ 1.65 = 3×10⁸/v

→ 1.65 × v = 3×10⁸

→ v = 3 ×10⁸/1.65

→ v = 181818181.81

→ v = 1.8×10⁸ m/s

Therefore, the speed of light in glass is 1.8×10m/s.
