Let the side of triangle be a.   area of equilateral triangle =sqrt(3)*side*side/4 =sqrt(3)*a*a/4  The side is half=a/2. area=sqrt(3)*side*side/4 area=sqrt(3)*(a/2)*(a/2)/4 =sqrt(3)*a*a/16  ratio=(sqrt(3)*a*a/4)/(sqrt(3)*a*a/16) =4/16 =1/4 =1:4
