Given:

The two equations are as follows:

( x + 7 ) ( x + 7 )

( 3x + 1 ) ( 3x – 8 )

To find:

The expanded form of the equations using the identities.

Solution:

Using the identity: (y + a)(y + b) = y² +y(a+b) + ab

On comparing the given equations from the identities:

We get (x+7)(x+7) = x² + x(7+7) + 49

On simplifying we get:

= x² + 14x + 49

Similarly  ( 3x + 1 ) ( 3x – 8 ) = 9x² + 3x(1-8) - 8

On simplifying we get:

= 9x² - 21x -8

The equations are as follows:  x² + 14x + 49 and 9x² - 21x -8
