In the y-axis the value of x=0 and on the x-axis the value of y=0, Therefore the to satisfy this condition the equation for y-axis is x=0(0,y) and equation for x-axis is y=0 (x,0), if you substitute this in any equation you will get a value for x and y and x respectively.
