Subject :- False promises made by the advertisements.
Respected Sir/Ma'am,
I would like to draw the attention of the authorities and the people through the esteemed column of your newspaper regarding the false promises made by the advertisements.
Advertisements plays a key role in the marketing industry. It is that weapon which allows the business people to make money and why not? Advertisements shown are so promising that anyone would get tempted by the product and the services. But what is shown to the public is actually true?
You will get the answer for the above question by the following example :-
- Buy this massaging chair and all your pains will vanish. 50% Mega Discount. Offer Price :- ₹1,50,000 /-, Applicable only today.
Now this ad seems promising and will attract many people like who are aged or who have body or joint pain generally but will it really vanish the pain? and what about the price? Even after a 50% discount, is it less? Absolutely not. I don't think a massaging chair in actual will cost ₹3,00,000 /-.
Still I met many people who actually bought the chair and according to their reviews, the chair wasn't worth it. It lead to more pain in aged people due to a high pressure provided by the chair during the massage.
Another example I would like to share is as follows :-
- By this XYZ Laptop and get a Wi-Fi Printer worth ₹15,000 /- absolutely free.
When entered the showroom, what was given in free was a normal Inkjet Printer worth ₹3000 /- .
Now a days, it's all about business. Promotions and promises are just for attracting public so that more and more of their products could be sold. Discounts are never provided on the actual price of the product. What actually done is that the price of the product is first increased and then the discount is shown just to show what a huge favor they are doing on the public.
Off course, such companies can be punished but for that the citizens need to be aware and should file case against the false promises made by the advertisements but majority of them stay silent and do not take any action against such companies.
The need of the hour is to understand the agenda behind such marketing schemes. Remember: "All that glitters is not gold."
There is no benefit behind spending money on waste products. Always take a trial of the products which you can. Refer to people for feedback but never have a blind faith on any advertisement.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
Ananya.
