Q-20 Calculate the total torque acting on the body shown in given figure about the point O.

Given in the question :-

We have to take Anticlockwise torque = + ve

clockwise torque = - ve


Now,

Torque = total force × perpendicular distance to the force

(clockwise and anticlockwise )



Total torque =  20 * 0.04 * sin30^0 + 5*0 + 15 * 0.06 * sin37^0 - 10* 0.04* sin90^0


= 20× 0.02 + 15 × 0.036-0.40

= 0.40+ 0.54- 0.40 N-m

= 0.54 N-m (Anticlockwise direction )


Hence resultant torque acting on the point is 0.54 N-m (Anticlockwise)
