In this formula C stands for Celsius which is a temperature unit on the Celsius scale .The Celsius scale was invented by Swedish Astronomer Anders Celsius. It has 100 degrees between the freezing point (0 degree C) and boiling point (100 degree C) of pure water at sea level air pressure.

similarly in this formula F stands for the Fahrenheit which is a temperature unit on fahrenheit scale.On the Fahrenheit scale, the freezing point of water is 32 degrees Fahrenheit (°F) and the boiling point is 212 °F .
