adding 2 both sides

$x + 2 = 2 + 2 \\ x + 2 = 4 \\ x = 4 - 2 \\ x = 2$

subtracting 2 on both sides

$x - 2 = 2 - 2 \\ x - 2 = 0 \\ x = 2$

multiplying both sides on both sides

$2 \times x = 2 \times 2 \\ 2x = 4 \\ x = \frac{4}{2} \\ = x=2$
