The Monsoon winds starts retreating in the months of October and November because at this time, the Monsoon trough of low pressure over the Ganga Plains becomes weaker due to Southwest movement of the Sun. The low pressure trough is gradually replaced by high pressure, marking the retreat of the monsoon winds.
