Explanation:
Lost Spring is a prose written by an Indian writer Anees Jung which talks about the poverty and destitution of the rag pickers of Seemapuri and the bangle makers of Firozabad and how these pathetic conditions compels children to throw away their childhood and live a life of exploitation.
Here they refers to the policemen, sahukars, politicians, bureaucrats, the middlemen etc who exploit the lives of the poor and are nonchalant in enhancing their conditions. The baggage refers to the employment and work a child is forced to do due to utter poverty. They are compelled to work in hazardous conditions like a bangle factory. These children has lost their spring (referred to as childhood here) and are engaged in earning their daily bread for the family. They are obligated to make a living at a tender age and do not realize that they are being exploited.
Due to the heavy debt s of their parents, the children have no choice but to follow in their footsteps. They have accepted their fate as the tradition, saying it is their karm. They are incapable of raising their voice against this injustice due to constant suppression. The poor and destitute are doomed to live a life of grinding poverty and exploitation.
