Given :- A and B were partners in a firm sharing profits in 3 : 2. On 1-4-2018 they admitted C as a new partner for 1/4th share. On 1-4-2019 D was admitted as a new partner for 1/5th share which he acquired equally from A, B and C. Calculate the new profit sharing ratio ?

Solution :-

→ A : B share = 3 : 2

→ C admitted as a new partner for = (1/4)th share .

so, rest (3/4) is distributed between A and B .

then,

→ A new share = (3/5) * (3/4) = (9/20)

→ B new share = (2/5) * (3/4) = (6/20)

so,

→ A : B : C = (9/20) : (6/20) * (1/4 * 5/5) = 9 : 6 : 5

now,

→ D share = (1/5) th equally from A, B and C .

so,

→ D will acquired = (1/3) * (1/5) = (1/15) th from all three .

then,

→ A left share = (9/20) - (1/15) = (9*3 - 4)/60 = (23/60)

→ A left share = (6/20) - (1/15) = (6*3 - 4)/60 = (14/60)

→ A left share = (5/20) - (1/15) = (5*3 - 4)/60 = (11/60)

therefore,

→ A : B : C : D = (23/60) : (14/60) : (11/60) : (1/5 * 12/12) = 23 : 14 : 11 : 12 (Ans.)
