The cities named Mussoorie and Dehradun both lies on the same latitude but they both experiences a different type of weather. It is because of their elevation difference. The city of Dehradun is located at an altitude of about 450 meter above the sea level, and it experiences a somewhat warmer temperature. During monsoon season there occurs heavy rainfall and during the winter the temperature ranges between 1 to 20°C and there occurs fog.
On the other hand, Mussoorie is located at an altitude of nearly 1400 meters above the sea level, thereby experiencing a much colder climatic conditions. During the monsoon there occurs warm and dry and it gradually becomes cool and cloudy by the end of monsoon. The rainfall occurs more frequently during the winter.
Thus, the climate of Mussoorie is comparatively much cooler than the Dehradun because of its location at the high altitude and it is a good hill station.
