His full name is Sunil Manohar Gavaskar.

He was born on 10th July 1949 in Bombay. His nickname was Sunny and the Little Master. In test cricket history Sunil Gavaskar was widely regarded as one of the greatest opening batsman.He was the first player to score 10,000 runs in test matches. He received the Padma Bhushan Award in 1980 from the Indian government. In 1980 he was also named as the wisden cricketer of the year. He was also awarded the Col CK Nayudu lifetime achievement award for cricket in India in 2012.
