Q.3. Write scientific reasons.
(a) The stainless steel vessels in kitchen have copper coating on the bottom.
(b) Copper and brass vessels are cleaned with lemom.
(c) sodium metal is kept in kerosene.​

(a) The coating of the stainless steel vessels with copper coating on the bottom which helps in the faster heat conduction because copper is a good conductor of heat and it is durable and corrosion resistant.

(b) The citric acid present in the lemon or tamarind neutralises the basis coppercarbonate and dissolves the layer. That is why, tarnished copper vessels are cleaned with lemon or tamarind juice to give the surface of the copper vessel its characteristic lustre.

(c) Sodium and Potassium are highly reactive metals and react vigorously with the oxygen, carbon dioxide and moisture present in the air such that it may even cause a fire. To prevent this explosive reaction, Sodium is kept immersed inkerosene because Sodium doesn't react with kerosene.
