Q 31 A shopkeeper bought 100 watches and 100 fans each item costing 4000.
He sold each watch at a loss of 4% and each fan at a gain of 6%. Find his loss or
gain percent on the whole transaction. Also find total profit or loss.​

C.P. of 100 watches = Rs 100× 4000 = Rs400000

C.P. of 100 fans = Rs 100 × 4000 = Rs400000

Total CP of watches and fans = 400000+400000

= Rs800000

SP of 100 watches = CP - 4% of 400000

= 400000 - 4/100×400000

=400000 - 16000 = Rs384000

SP of 100 fans = CP + 6% of 400000

= 400000 + 6/100×400000

= 400000+24000=424000

Total SP of watches and fans= 384000+424000

= 808000

Gain = SP - CP

= 808000-800000

= Rs8000

Profit % = Profit /CP ×100

= 8000/400000×100

= 2%
