Dimensions of Pressure and Stress are the same.

  • Pressure is a quantity that is exerted or applied onto something from the outside or surface of a material or substance. Stress is a quantity that is exerted or applied inside the substance or material.
  • Pressure and Stress have same dimensions since they are calculated similarly that force per unit area. The dimensions are N/m². They also have the same units that is Pascal which is denoted as P.
  • Even though they have the same dimensions they are completely different from each other. Pressure acts from outside whereas stress occurs on the inside. They occur in different circumstances.
  • Therefore, Pressure and Stress have same dimensions but are not similar to each other.
