Explanation:

On 8th August 1942, the ‘Quit India Movement’ was launched during the ‘All India Congress Committee’ session in Bombay by Mahatma Gandhi. Their demand was to end British rule and Independence for India.  

They launched massive protests and agitations all over India asking the British to leave the country. A many people were ‘arrested and imprisoned’ by the British during the agitations.
