Let x= 1

so,

⇒(1)³-2(1)²-1+2

⇒1-2-1+2

After cancelling we get,

⇒0

so (x-1) is a factor of (x³-2x²-x+2)

If we divide (x³-2x²-x+2) by (x-1) The remainder is Zero and quotient is,

x²-x-2

⇒x²-2x+x-2

⇒x(x-2)+1(x-2)

⇒(x-2)(x+1)

and  the first factor

(x-1)(x+1)(x-2)
