Ans will be

Lets take height as h

u as 2

We know v^2-u^2=2as

Since the body is falling down,a due to g will be -10 or we can take -9.8 too

0^2-2^2=2*-10H

0-4=-20h

4=20h

h=4/20

h=1/5

Now since the que asks us to half the initial velocity

Hence,-1=-20h

h=1/20

So total distance will change 1/5+1/5(in the first case)=2/10=1/2

While in second case 1/20+1/20=1/20
