1. Swami Dayanand Saraswati (1824-1883) founded the Arya Samaj in 1875.He opposed cast system,idol worship and religious creeds. He started a movement called Shuddhi. He preached social equality. He also opposed purdah system and child marriage. Arya samaj opened schools for both boys and girls known as DAV school (Dayanand Anglo Vedic)school.
