Several reports have been published on the return of many species to their natural habitats ever since the coronaviral pandemic hit the earth. Governments' drastic steps in the spread of the latest coronavirus and the shutdown of factories , industries, & movement of vehicles have caused emission levels to decline worldwide. The pandemic has given people some time to relax, as it continues to avoid industrial activities.

Explanation:

  • More than 8,5 lakh COVID-19 cases have been registered in the world to date, with just over 42,000 deaths, according to latest estimates from the World Health Organisation. In short, regardless of their social and economic status the virus has infected the individuals. Mother Earth seems to have rejuvenated: smog has given way to a blue sky, marine life is rising, pollution levels have plummeted, and both animals and birds have been moved in accordance to their free will. However, it is necessary that this scenario continues even after the pandemic is over. As human beings, there are several ways wherein we can contribute to maintain  the environmental balance
  • People play a key role in preserving the environmental balance because, in comparison with other live species, they have the highest capacity for thought. We must re-cycle to avoid natural resource over-harvest. Store energy by buying more energy efficient equipment and vehicles.
  • We have been hearing this for some time, however, it can be the most effective way to reduce our carbon footprints & retain an ecological balance. By minimising the amount we use, we place less stress on the systems used to provide us with the service. This decreases the environmental burden. We remove the need to buy more & save money on the way through reusing products. Eventually, we eliminate the need for more raw materials by recycling.
  • Action to monitor citizens must be done at the citizen and state levels. Despite mental, religious or cultural sensitivity to the issue, this issue is critical. Controlling the rate of birth by family planning would reduce the environmental pressure by lowering the rate of consumption of natural resources by individuals.
  • The balance of marine habitats is endangered by water contamination, and emissions from sewage/drainage & agricultural runoff. A cascade of harmful impacts on the environment can result in sewer and agricultural runoff. The ecological balance will be maintained if measures are taken to decrease or eliminate pollution from non-point sources such as streets & farms.
  • We don't realise many times what we put in our bodies and the implications thereof. Many of the fruit and vegetable products that we use are processed with toxic pesticides and herbicides. By  increasing organic consumption we enable more farmers and manufacturers to use products which are produced responsibly and that in turn allow more people to buy what they produce.
  • Transiting to and from your school, workplace, etc, will reduce your carbon footprint. Many transit systems are transitioning to green and hybrid buses, and if there is a train facility in the city it should be mostly electric driven. If you can't just ride a bus to your office, consider investing in a electric car or searching for options for car pooling; both have affordable ways to support the environment. And even better, walking or cycling will give you good training and some atmospheric relief.
