Q. 4 Solve the following questions : (Any one)

i) Flower is structural unit of sexual reproduction in plants. It consist of 4 floral
whorls i.e. calyx, corolla, androecium & gynoecium. These are arranged sequence from
outside to inside. Androecium & gynoecium are the essential whorls. Which help in the
reproduction where, as calyx & corolla is the accessory whorls which help in protection
of the inner whorls. Androecium is the male whorl and its members are called as
stamens, which consist of anther and filament. Gynoecium is the female whorl and its
members are called as carpels, which consist of stigma, style and ovary. Pollen grains
are produced from anthens. The male gametes in pollen grains fuse with egg in the
ovule and fertilization take place.
