(a)
The natural factors such as physical, geographical and climatic exercise considerable impact on the industrial productivity. The relative importance of these factors depends upon the nature of the industry, goods and services produced and the extent to which physical conditions are controlled.

(i) It has provided employment to over one million people.
(ii) This industry is said to be a major foreign exchange earner.
(iii) It has helped in the growth of the service sector.
(iv) It provides employment to innumerable men and women.
(d)
India apart from being highly populated country has massive unemployment and poverty. Industrial development will help to overcome the problem of unemployment. ... For producing the output for industries, number labourers will be employed. These employed labourers will increase the employment status of the economy.

(a) - (i) Scientific and technological advancement, quantity and quality of labour, speedy transportation facilities, ready markets, availability of raw materials, government policies, political stability, etc. are factors that influence the industrial development of a nation.
(ii) For eg, dense forest areas, mountainous areas, desert regions have physiological features. Transport facilities are found to be limited in such regions. Therefore industrial development is found to be limited in such regions.
(b) - (i) The state government of Maharashtra established Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) on 1st August, 1962.
(ii) Through MIDC, government has set up industries in all districts of Maharashtra. It also supports the industrial growth and decentralization of industries.
(iii) MIDC has been playing an important role in generating employment of opportunities in all 36 districts of Maharashtra.
