(b) While playing in a park, a child was stung by a bee. Some elders suggested applying
paste of baking soda and others lemon juice as remedy. Which remedy do you think is
appropriate and why?​

(a)Acids are sour, gives burning sensation, generally sticky, reacts with metals to produce hydrogen gas. Although bases are opposite as they are bitter, generally odorless (except ammonia), they are slippery; bases react with fats and oils. In phenolphthalein, indicator acids remain colorless, and base gives pink color.

(b)The nature of baking soda is basic whereas lemon juice is acidic in nature. So applying the paste of baking soda is good remedy as compared to the paste of lemon juice because wasp sting releases methanoic acid into the sting region which causes itchiness. The nature of baking soda is basic.
