P will finish 50% of the job in 18 days.

Given:

time taken by M to complete a job = 2 × time taken by P = 3 × time taken by N

number of days taken by M, N, and P working together to complete the job = 12 days

To Find:

the time taken by P to complete 50% of the job

Solution:

Let the number of days taken by M to finish the job be x days

so, P will take x/2 days and N will take x/3 days

work done by M in 1 day = 1/x

work done by N in 1 day = 3/x

work done by P in 1 day = 2/x

thus, we get the following equation-

1/x + 3/x + 2/x = 1/12

6/x = 1/12

x = 6 × 12 = 72

⇒ x/2 = 72/2 = 36

so, P will finish the entire job in 36 days

⇒ time taken to finish 50% of the job = 36/2 = 18

Thus, P will finish 50% of the job in 18 days.
