Q. 5 Each question contains an algebraic expression. Write out the numerical coefficients and the
constant terms in each of them. Then find the value of the expression when x=1 and y=-2

Answer:

a) numerical coefficient=2

constant= 4

x²+ 2xy+ y²+4

x=1. y=-2

(1)²+ 2x1x(-2) +4

1-4+4

=1

b) numerical coefficient=2

constant= 5

xy - 2xy² + 2x + 5

x=1. y=-2

1x(-2) - 2x1x(-2)² +2x1 +5

-2 -8 +2+5

-10+7

=-3

c) numerical coefficient=3

constant=2

x + 3xy + y + 2

1+3×1×(-2)+(-2) +2

1-6-2+2

=-5
