famous collection of beautiful poems, the Gitanjali was awarded the Nobel Prize, his fame

would wonder. One can get the answer from Tagore's childhood. His was the childhood of
freedom and play. He did not like to go to school. He hated the walls of the schools and the
rules. For him, a school was like a prison. He loved to be free like a bird. He would sit in the
window of his house and watched birds, trees and natural surroundings. He would wander in
the forest, on the banks of rivers, among hills and at the sea-shore. He was a true lover of
nature. This love of Mother nature made him a great poet
