Let daughter's age be x years.

Then, mother's age = 3x years

(3x + 12) = 2(x + 12) \\ (3x + 12) = 2x + 24 \\ x = 12

Daughter's age today = 12 years And the mother age is = (56 - 12) = 44 years

Answer:

Let the age of daughter be 'x' years

and mother's age = (56 - x) years

After 4 years:

daughter's age = (x+4) years

mother's age =(56-x+4)= (60-x) years

According to the question:

3(x+4)=60-x

=>3 x + 12 = 60 - x

=>3x+x= 60-12

=>4x= 48

=> x= 4
