ENSURING WOMEN SAFETY
India is a progressive nation and much is being done by the government to include women in its development plans. But one really go aghast to read daily reports of crime against the women who step out in pursuit of education or a job. They have been targeted not only in buses autos and in their cars, but even in the midst of the public, on the road. In fact a recent survey has revealed that bigger the cities , the bigger the risk faced by women. The survey also revealed that a crime is committed against a women in every 30 minutes
Parents school and the community at large must foster gender equality and respect for women right from their childhood . It is the responsibility of all members of the society to wake up to this issue and protect woman whenever and wherever they may be. Women should also take some preventive measures like avoiding isolated places alone at odd hours. The media should pitch a campaign to mobilise public opinion and awareness to ensure safer cities for women.
It must be remembered that well being of a nation and it's people is integrally related to well being and safety of its women.
