A rainy day refrigerates the weather with showers and a warm breeze. It freshens everyone by making the climate fresh and pleasant and brings in a sigh of relief from the scorching heat.

It is a blessing for trees, birds, animals, plants and people during the summer. Trees look so fresh, colourful and refreshing after a shower. Rainy day is essential for farmers as it helps in the growth of crops.

A Rainy Day

Every student specially school students wait for a rainy day in the rainy season. It is realy an interesting experience to them. I enjoyed such an experience on wednesday last. The sky remained overcast with dark clouds since morning. It was lightning now and then. At about 9 in the morning it started raining. Gradually a heavy shower began and all my hope for going to school simply vanished into the blue.

The heavy shower continued. Sitting beside the window of my first floor room I looked through and what a sight it was! The roads end streets went under deep water. Tram cars stopped plying and lay standing on the lines. Buses, cars and other vehicles were left useless without any means to proceed. Only one or two heavy trucks were seen to move slowly splashing water on all sides. And the small waves they produced, entered the ground floor rooms of many road side houses. Pedestrians were moving with much difficulty through the water raising their cloths above the knee. The small park beside our house turned to a vast watery place. At about 4 p.m. the downpour stopped. It was still drizzling. Children came out there houses and floated paper boats. Some boys were found swimming and sprinkling water among themselves and in that way they were making fun.

I enjoyed this day very much. I listened to the songs and went on seeing some interesting programmes on cartoon network in our TV. I spent some time seeing the sight of rain, enjoyed the mid day of hot hotchpotch with fried hilsa.
