152x - 378y = -74   ---------------- (1)

-378x + 152y = -604  ------------- (2)

On adding (1) & (2), we get

152x - 378x + 152y - 378y = -74-604

-226x - 226y = - 678

x + y = 3  ---- (3)


On subtracting (1) & (2), we get

152x -(-378x) - 378y -(-152y) = -74 + 604

530x - 530y = 530

x - y = 1   -------------- (4)


On solving (3) & (4), we get

x + y = 3

x - y = 1

-------------

2x = 4

x = 2.


Substitute x = 2 in (4), we get

2 - y = 1

y = 1.


Therefore x = 2 and y = 1.
