Answer:
Let the unit of ratio be x,
so, no. of boys = 4x
and no. of girls = 15x
given,
75% of boys hold scholarship.
or, 75/100 × 4x = 300x/100 = 3x
Hence 3x boys out of 4x are scholarship holders.
Also given,
80% of girls are scholarship holders.
or, 80/100 × 15x = 1200x/100 = 12x
Hence, 12x girls out of 15x are scholarship holders.
Now,
total no. of students getting the scholarship = 3x + 12x = 15x
and total students = 4x + 15x = 19x
Hence, no. of students who aren't getting the scholarship = 19x - 15x = 4x
Percentage of such students = 4x/19x × 100 = 400/19 = 21.05%
Hence, 21.05% of students are not getting a scholarship.
