• m$_2$=4kg
• u$_1$=0
• u$_2$= 0
• v$_1$=20

To find :-

the initial recoil velocity of the rifle

Solution :-

from law of conservation of motion,

m$_1$u$_1$ + m$_2$u$_2$ = m$_1$v$_1$+ m$_2$v$_2$

0= 0.01( 20) + 4v$_2$

v$_2$= ( - 0.5) m/s
